Biography

Rebecca Cooper’s lifetime mission is to create resources and awareness of disordered eating. Her mother died of morbid obesity and Rebecca has 20+ years of recovery from disordered eating and eating disorder herself. She is a California licensed therapist and the Founder of Rebecca’s House, the first transitional living residence for women recovering from eating disorders.
Ms. Cooper established Rebecca's House Eating Disorder Treatment Programs™ located in Orange County, CA. There she heads up a team of psychologists, therapists, registered dietitians, exercise physiologist, psychiatrist and a medical doctor. This innovative program is successfully being used by recovery homes, therapists, clients, and at Rebecca’s House Eating Disorder Treatment Programs in Southern California.
Rebecca is the author of the book, Diets Don’t Work®, a step-by-step program for disordered eating. Her book also has a Structured Workbook, DVDs, on-line sessions, iBook, PDF Download and CD’s. She is the author of many published articles and she is the eating disorder expert for Addicted.com, SelfGrowth.com and blogs for various websites.

In October 2004, Rebecca was honored as the Rising Star in Business by WomanSage©, an event sponsored by the University of California Irvine Medical Center. The award was in recognition of her innovative approach to helping women with eating disorders and her dedicated service of helping others recover from disordered eating. In May of 2009, she was nominated for the Orange County Business Journal's Women in Business Award.
Rebecca also started a non-profit, Rebecca’s Eating Disorder Foundation, to help provide partial scholarships for patients who need eating disorder treatment, but are not able to get insurance benefits or other sources of help.
